If you have ever suffered an oral accident or emergency, consider yourself lucky. Oral emergencies can be quite common as they can arrive at any time to any gender of any age. Regardless of your oral hygiene and your overall health, your smile can be destroyed in an instant due to an oral emergency. Thus, it is important to be aware of the risks that are present, and what you can do to help save your smile if the worst should ever occur.

If you ever suffer from an object stuck between your teeth, it is important to use the proper oral health care utensils to ensure further damage cannot arise. Do not use sharp objects or any object that can potentially damage your gums and scratch your tooth enamel. Typically, tools such as dental floss can be used to help slowly and easily move the object that is lodged between your teeth.

If you ever suffer from lost dental filling or dental crown, remain calm and look for something to cover up the exposed tooth. If a dental filling is lost, try using a piece of sugarless gum or a dental cement. If a dental crown is lost, it may be able to be reattached with a dental cement, or similar substance. Never use super glue. In addition, cover the exposed area with the cotton swab down and clove oil. No matter if you’ve lost a dental filling or a dental crown, it is imperative to visit your dentist as soon as possible for proper repair and replacement.
