First, encourage your child to keep up on oral hygiene. For a successful oral health, your child needs to brush their teeth twice a day, floss their smile once a day, and rinse their mouth daily. If they are too young to do these things, it’s best to clean their smile for them. It’s best to do so with a child-sized toothbrush and children’s toothpaste (but only use toothpaste when your child is 3 years old or older). Try to make oral hygiene a positive experience.
Second, give your child tooth-healthy foods and snacks regularly. You can do so by giving them fruits, raw vegetables, and dairy products. It’s also best to limit the sugary snacks because sugar promotes tooth decay. You can also pack your child a lunch everyday if the school lunch does not offer beneficial options.
Third, protect your child’s smile with dental sealants. Dental sealants can protect your child’s permanent molars. They are made to cover the molars and protect them from bacteria and plaque, which can help your child avoid dental issues.
